After lunch, we left Las Terrazas and headed back to Havana. The next stop was the one I was most interested in seeing, it was Fusterlandia. Jose Fuster is the called “The Picasso of the Caribbean” with some Gaudi influences. (A Side Note - I had the pleasure of discovering there was more to Picasso than just cubism at an exhibit in Paris. I fell in love with Antonio Gaudi when I saw his amazing architectural designs in Barcelona: La Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, and La Pedrera.) Mr. Fuster work can be found on his properties and around his neighborhood. Needless to say, I took lots of photos. This is just a small sample.
"Tribute to Gaudi", this is one of Jose Fuster's neighborhood creations.
We returned to the hotel for a free evening. I wanted to have Cuba’s version of paella, so I asked our guide for a recommendation. She suggested a restaurant in the Valencia Hotel called La Paella, it was located in Old Havana.
This was my coco taxi ride to Old Havana for dinner. She (I think her name was Nacardo) has owned her coco taxi for 11 years.
My paella dinner was very good and so was the entertainment, Cuarteto Heraldos Negros. (I did purchase their CD.) I decided to walk back to the hotel along the Malecón, it was a nice night to stroll along the ocean. My bed was a welcomed sight to see after that nearly 3 mile walk. We would be checking out of the Meliá Cohiba in the morning.
